305 bhp SUV in 1982. Do want.

I think 305 hp is a bit optimistic in 1982.

That is the power output of the 7.2 Chrysler RB engine in this car.

I wonder what they did to it then. That’s about 50 more hp than it made in other vehicles.

That’s even lower than the 375 HP performance version in the other Monteverdi.

Europe wasn’t completely nuts about exhaust emissions in ‘82 so they were able to use engines in “pre fuel crisis spec”. In any case 7.2l Chrysler (440 cid) engine had been gone from US markets for couple of years at that point.

Was that a Safari? Sounds as if it was a 426 engine, which wasn’t offered in the Sahara from the factory....

The 375 are in the High Speeds and the 7.2 liter 440 was in a prototype Safari.

Ahh. The high speed was most likely a gross HP rating.

Was there no net 375 hp Magnum V8?

Ah, that makes sense.

Not that I’m aware of.

I always thought the Safari was kind of an abomination, but I’ve warmed up to it, since Monteverdi sells enough of those to keep the High Speed in production for us enthusiasts.
